Garden Variety. Healthy.

Garden Variety. Salad.

Here are two salads I’d eat [lets be realistic here] 2x a week. Like each one, one time. Other than that I’m an Alfredo eating, popcorn popping, banana and peanut butter, cottage cheese and blueberries kinda girl. I’m a grazer, if you will. Just munching through life. Also, hating salads cause in Michigan its 10 degrees for months & I just want to eat something hot. Here’s my favorite salads anyway.

IMG_0106.JPG

Garden Variety. Serves 1.
1 Compari Tomato
1 Baby Cucumber [I only like these because the skin isn’t hard like normal sized ones]
1/4 Orange Pepper
4 Baby Carrots
1/2 head chopped romaine lettuce
1 large handful baby spinach/spring mix [comes in a box combined at my local grocery]
Feta Crumbles [optional]
Dressing of your choice. I prefer an Italian. I REALLY prefer Olive Garden Italian. Which I can find at my local grocery. [super tight]

— I’m not about to tell you how to make a salad, cause… you know. But I chop the lettuce up pretty good & any of the other baby spinach/spring mix greens that are large & I ditch all the stems.
— Cut your veggies however, but [pictured above] is how I prefer mine. I also will sea salt my tomatoes if I don’t care about my cholesterol that day.
— Sprinkle everything all pretty & cute on top of your lettuce/baby spinach/spring mix. If you can do dairy, aren’t vegan, or lactose I’ll add some feta if I have some as well.
— I measure my dressing out according to the label and only use one serving, it’s usually 2 tablespoons for a serving. If you don’t measure it out all that added sugar in the dressing will become your whole day’s allowance if you aren’t careful.

Raspberry. Strawberry. Blueberry. Whatever I have in my fridge.

IMG_0115.JPG

In Michigan we can’t always get the BEST produce. BUT this is my favorite salad and the grocery occasionally has excellent strawberries in the middle of winter, if they have blueberries, I’ll also throw those in. This time, I was not so lucky.

Strawberry Pecan Salad. Serves 1.
4-5 Strawberries
Crush Pecans [heaping tablespoon or so]
Small handful of blueberries [if available]
Dried Cranberries [heaping tablespoon or so]
1/2 head chopped romaine lettuce
1 large handful baby spinach/spring mix [comes in a box combined at my local grocery]
Feta Crumbles [optional]
Dressing of your choice. I use [and will only use] Raspberry Vinaigrette from Kraft. Super fancy. I know. and I only use the 1 serving allowance because there’s a LOT of added sugar in the dressing, and this salad naturally has a lot of sugar from the fruits. I’ve heard some people use balsamic vinaigrette, but I tried it once and threw the whole thing out. But you do you.

Sorry this salad has no real measurements. It’s just how big the salad is, and how much fruit/ad ins you want.

I LOVE & live by these salads. They are actually salads I crave [which for me is absolutely wild] I hope you enjoy! Leave a comment about your favorite salad! I’d love to try some different ones & fall in love with others. Kisses.

Bullet Journal. March/April 2018.

IMG_8599

I basically failed at showing anyone what I was doing all of March. SO SORRY. Idk. March just came and things happened and now its basically over. I wish I could share more of my bullet journal, but I didn’t realize how much of it is actually pretty private. Maybe I’ll throw some things in photoshop and blur out what I don’t want you to see, because its kind of a shame I do all this work for just me to look at. I kind of would like to share it with the world, or at least my few loyal followers. [and don’t forget I love you, cause with out you, there would be no-one in the world that gave two shits about basically anything I write about, and the fact that you do, is pretty cool.]

IMG_8598

I’m not sure what it was about these palm trees, but I loved them so much! If you didn’t read my post a few days back… I went to Florida. We go to this cute little condo the same week every year to see the beach & my grandparents. They live about 20 min. inland so we’ll go to their favorite place and have pie that sucks and try to convince my grandma to wear her hearing aid. For people who are 86 & 88 years old, its kind of incredible they are as self sufficient as they are. My grandpa especially. He doesn’t say much, but when he does its great. He’s witty as all hell and I can’t get enough.

IMG_8717

Please don’t look at my nails. It’s my mid-March resolution to try to stop biting them and grow them to normal length like a real adult. I started biting them in the 5th grade, and here I am 20 years later, still doing it. Its an anxiety thing, I know it. You know it. The world knows it, and I’ve quit like 7 times and rewarded myself with a 9$ essie nail polish and I’m so successful and then something tragic happens and I find my nails back in my mouth. Its super gross, and you think that alone would get me to quit, but sadly.. it has not.

WELCOME APRIL. This month I tried using some markers instead of my prisma colored pencils. These markers are two sided, one is a regular like pen side, and the other is a brush side. They were cheap. They don’t bleed through the paper and you can buy yourself a set at Target here. The other markers I use are a black micron pen. They come in a million different sizes, but I use .4mm and .35 mm I believe. Check out my intro post that has more about tools here.

What does your April look like? I always take my photos before I fill in my family/friends birthdays and actually activities planned cause, I really don’t need you knowing where I am every second. BUT, I’ll be here Tuesday/Thursday at 5 pm unless I’m depressed, or its raining. Kisses.

Think Spring – Faux Florals

Here in Michigan we have about 6 months of cloudy darkness, aka… WINTER. & I’m starting to feel some spring fever. I decided to make a spring arrangement for my office to spruce this place up. I love the faux florals at hobby lobby, but you can also find really wonderful ones at your local home & garden stores. [shop local] I find really beautiful faux florals at a store called Warmbier Farms in Auburn, MI. Check out their website… HERE. If you’re ever in the area, its a MUST stop.

I found my vessels somewhere in my travels [sorry I can’t remember]

Today I’ll give you some tips on arrangements. You’ll want to follow a color story. I used coral & yellow for mine. Find things in this color story. You don’t want to get a blue here, and a orange there, and a red there. It will look more professional when you follow one or two colors.

You’ll also want to use the rule of ODDS. Whatever you choose to buy, you’ll want 3, 5, or 7 of. I typically buy 3 in the bigger flowers, and 5 in the filler flowers. And I will typically get 5 different ones with similar looks.

For this arrangement you’ll need:

Wire Cutters
Two Vessels
3 large flowers [ I used peonies ]
3 medium flowers [ I used riniculas ]
3 filler flowers [ use anything small & simple, not distracting from your large & med ]
5 filler pieces [ these are the small yellow buds ]
Florist Foam

Faux florals come in crazy long stems, so figure out how tall you’d like your arrangement to be, and cut the first stem to that length. You won’t want them all the same, but you will want them within two inches longer or shorter than each other. It’ll give a more cohesive appearance. Start putting your large flowers in first, then medium, and finally, filler. You can cut them, move the wires around so they fill certain areas, and adjust till you think it looks full and fabulous! Sometimes I figure out which sides of my arrangement will show, and puff those up with more, and less in the back. If my arrangement is going to sit on a table, and you’ll see it from all angles, turn your arrangement as you fill, so it looks evenly placed all around!

What color are you thinking for this spring? Coral, Yellow, Soft pink? Let me know! Tag #eliseinwonderland on instagram to show your work! Kisses.

Bullet Journaling – Intro

Bullet Journaling – Intro

Well. The new year is here. Have you done well with your resolutions? Well, I can’t say I’ve been failing if I haven’t started. I have some goals this year to get back to my weight when I was 22 and a dime.. blog more, bullet journal more, share my creativity with the outside world, get a job to get some social interaction because my husband’s long hours are difficult & the cat doesn’t answer when I talk to her. Go figure.

I’m a bullet journal novice, so that’s kinda tight. You could learn with me? I am a great flower arranger, and baker extordinare? I think I need to try more things. I actually have a fear of change. Anything where there is change, is super scary. It takes me a million years to adjust to anything different. Anyway…

I guess I’ll share my first few bullet pages with you. It’s probably why you read this post anyway. Click bait at it’s finest. My very first page, I put my name, contact information, address, email, instagram, twitter, birthday, etc. I like the book to be, well.. mine. & if i were to lose it {I’D DIE} hopefully some nice citizen would call or email me & I could get it back. SO I’ll leave that page out, cause I don’t need ya’ll sending me hate mail, or showing up to my house uninvited. [sorry.]

IMG_7761

I love using prism colored pencils vs. markers cause they never bleed through the paper and you can fade colors and blend colors and do fun things with them. They aren’t as precise as markers, but I kind of like that. I use micron archival pens in .35mm and .45mm [both are black.] I like to write down my goals at the beginning of the book so that I can look back. I kept the left page blank here to add notes and maybe an index later on. I usually don’t number my pages or care, but that is important to some people.

IMG_7637

The next spread I put all my important birthday’s to remember [even my own cause celebrating it what I live for] lol. & the yearly calendar to reference. It’s pretty sloppy, but You & I will get better overtime. Don’t let the lack of perfectionism get to you.

img_7639.jpg

I saw someone put a master grocery list in theirs, which.. now that its in there, I kinda hate it, but at least my fruits at the top are cute. lol. I want to track where I go, and when I go there to see how much I traveled and if I went anywhere new, and how great it was, so I’ll fill this in as the year goes. I kinda wish I made this a two page spread, because… adventure awaits.

IMG_7719

This was by FAR my favorite page to draw and put together. I love to pick out books, I have a bookshelf in my bedroom with all the books I have yet to read, and all the books I’ve read organized on separate shelves. I’ll add more books on the shelf space as I find others I’d like to read, but I like to know the title before I draw them in, cause you have to write so tiny!

IMG_7640

For those of us with a laundry list of issues [ugh, me] I wanted to keep track of how I was feeling day to day & my Dr. Appts & what we talked about. AKA if i was getting a flu shot, or if I was actually dying, or if I was mainly there for a medication check up, which seems far too often, but that’s life for ya.

I then go into a weather symbols page which I doodle the weather in my calendar, so I can see if it was sunny for 5 days and I felt great, or if it was cloudy and rainy for 3 & my mood was crummy at best. It helps figure out if its climate issues, or like, a real issue, or an issue I might think is real.

I’ll get into January monthly planning specifics in the next post. Stay Tuned. let me know if you are bullet journaling & how it’s going! Tag me in your instaposts if you show any pages to the world. Kisses.

Adoption Day

My husband & I wanted to get a kitty. (Me, really) & he desperately wanted a pug, so obvs we started looking for a kitten. We went to several adoption places & didn’t really find the right fit. We had a small apartment & my husband was (about to be) a first time cat parent. So we needed a really friendly, loving, lap cat. (a cat-like dog apparently) I was like, lets try one more place (half hour away) & try the Humane Society there…..

IMG_7212

Entering the Humane Society there were so many cats, & VERY new baby kittens. I still didn’t think we found the one. I spoke to the handler about what we were looking for, & she introduced us to that little face. She was 8 months or so, & just finished her round of shots & was spayed. She looked pathetic. She was perfect. One (very long) trip to the pet store, with a baby kitty in my arms later, she was home.
